Started by South Sudanese Nationals that saw a need to alleviate poverty in the communities around him, collectively, in 2010 ARUDA was born as both humanitarian and development organization, committed to helping vulnerable communities to improve their lives and overcome poverty and suffering by building resilience. ARUDA is a registered (registration No: 732) national Non-Governmental organization in South Sudan since year 2010. ARUDA focuses on finding durable solutions in a bid to fight poverty, hunger, ignorance and diseases. Its ultimate goal is to empower communities especially those affected by conflict and natural disasters so that they can manage themselves and find meaning in life. ARUDA works directly with local communities in the fight against social evils in the society through advocacy. ARUDA has provided relief services in Western Bhar El Ghazal, Lakes and Unity States in South Sudan. ARUDA has a coordination office in Juba and field offices in Mingkaman in Awerial County, in Rumbek of Lakes State and Bentiu town in Rubkona County of Unity State. With high expectation of expansion ARUDA is planning to expand to Yei River County (Kajo-keji) and Malakal County (Balliet and Adong payams). The program targets returnees, refugees, internally displaced people and host community members. ARUDA’s is to implement a multi-sectorial program in the areas of, reproductive health, Nutrition, safe water, sanitation and hygiene, Sexual Gender Based Violence prevention/response, food security and livelihoods, basic education and Child protection. Additionally, ARUDA will deliver emergency relief aid to survivors of conflict and natural disasters, and helps people rebuild their lives through relocation and settling of the internally displaced persons (IDPs). Its key strength is in community participation and close collaboration with local authorities to support communities and local partners especially other civil society organization both national and International to overcome poverty and suffering.
