Summary Description of your Organization
The Association of Mozambican Mineworkers (AMIMO) is a Mozambican registered Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) with self-rights and administrative and financial autonomy. AMIMO was formed and registered in 1998 by migrant mineworkers who work the South African mining industry. It operates through a General Assembly (GA) that comprises its entire membership. The organization's primary activities are : Raising awareness about TB and link those presumptive of TB to health facilities ; Tracking and tracing ex-mineworkers, widows and families of deceased mineworkers to access their multi-compensations and social security benefits ; Farming aimed at improving the livelihoods and food security of the ex-Mineworkers and their families & Lobbying and advocacy for the introduction of the pension fund for the mine workers, and declaring TB in the mining sector as an occupational disease.
