Summary Description of your Organization
Botswana Labour Migrants Association (BoLAMA) is an organization that advocates for the rights of former and current migrant mine workers and their beneficiaries. BoLAMA was registered in 2015 in accordance with the laws of Botswana. The organization currently has a membership of over 6 000, which is constantly increasing. The organization advocates for increased social protection for the former migrant laborers, notably from the mining sector, including, portability of social security benefits, occupational health and safety, economic empowerment and public participation. Our commitment as an organization is not only to raise awareness on the challenges faced by migrant workers but also to alleviate them from poverty post- employment through strategic policy and legal reform.
