Summary Description of your Organization
COWLHA was established in 2006 by women living with HIV. The organization was conceived to create a united voice for women and girls living with HIV and AIDS in addressing the challenges affecting them. As such, the membership of COWLHA is made up of women and girls living with HIV and AIDS from all the districts
of Malawi. The membership of the Coalition is currently estimated at 20,000.
COWLHA is a registered civil society organization through the Trustees Incorporation Act, CONGOMA and NGO Board and has a Secretariat in Lilongwe. COWLHA focuses on the following six programmatic (thematic) areas namely: Socio-Economic Empowerment, Food Security and Community Resilience to Climate Change, Gender and Women's Rights, Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Documentation, Research, Communication and Advocacy, Organization Capacity Development and SRHR,TB, HTS, Care, Treatment and Support. In these six thematic areas, activities cover broad areas such as, sexual reproductive health and rights, gender-based violence, advocacy, socio-economic empowerment,climate justice and resilience, conservation agriculture, livelihood and nutrition and HIV services such as ART access, counseling, treatment literacy, differentiated care models and routine viral load testing.
