Summary Description of your Organization
The Community Initiative for Healthy and Peaceful Society (CHIPS) is a non for profit Non Governmental Organization (NGO) registered in Nigeria with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) under the ‘Company and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) No 1 of 1990 Part C’ on the 31st of January 2012 with Certificate of Registration no CAC/IT/NO 49998 with the sole aim of preventing the spread of common community health challenges such as malaria, Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension, AIDS, Tuberculosis, Sexually Transmitted infections and Reproductive health issues) and promoting cooperation and peaceful co-existence in the communities in Nigeria. Prior to the registration with CAC, CHIPS was formerly known as Community Research and Intervention Group (COMRIG) founded in 2005 registered with the Gombe State Ministry of Youth and Social Development. The change of name was necessitated following the realization of identity theft at the point of registration with the CAC. CHIPS aims to prevent community health challenges and enhance cooperation and peaceful co-existence through capacity buliding, dialogue, advocacy and referal linkages. This organization is driven by the constitution since inception in addition to other system strengthening structures such as procurement manual,operational guidelines,finance and accounting manual and an organogram. Since inception in 2005, CHIPS had recorded numerous successes in its areas of endeavour which is however not without contending challenges particularly in the face of dynamic social and political environments. Furthermore, in order to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the organization by fully realizing the organizational vision and mission within the tenets of its core values.
