COMMUNITY HEALTH WORKERS PARTNERSHIP FOR SUSTAINABLE HEALTH SERVICES DELIVERY
Purpose
The main purpose of the program is to increase use of quality community-led health and essential social services delivery at the community level in Kenya. This is a health services delivery program at the grassroots level, providing quality HIV prevention, treatment and care and support services . The program targets key populations, priority populations, Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) and victims and survivors of TB, Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and human trafficking.
The program supports access to health services among adolescents by delivering services in areas of family planning, reproductive health and rights, maternal newborn child health , nutrition, water sanitation and hygiene (WASH)
This program compliments the public sector in delivering services towards attaining the goal of addressing HIV/AIDS response, safeguarding the rights and welfare of children and adolescents impacted by HIV/AIDS and ensuring equitable access to and use of quality primary health care services including HIV/TB co-infection services, MNCH, adolescents and orphans and vulnerable children services.
The program contributes in the realization of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGS) which seeks to attain the health and overall well-being of men , women, adolescents and children.
The planned strategies will enhance the capacity of community health workers (CHWs) and community-led organizations, systems and processes as producers of health over being recipient of medical products. This will be achieved through primary prevention intervention of all preventable diseases which consume over 75% of the health budget in Kenya.
The CHWs will lead in implementing basic prevention care , health promotion and hygiene at the community and at the household level
