National Association for Supporting People Living with HIV/AIDS in Rwanda

ANSP+ stands for “Association Nationale de Soutien aux Personnes vivant avec le VIH/SIDA”.It is a Rwandan local Non-Governmental Organization created in September 2000by People Living withHIV themselves, and obtained the National legal entity through the national official gazette No.011 of 14th /03/2011 and it got its official accreditation by the Rwanda Governance Board (RGB) in 2014 Given the key population’shighest risk of contracting and transmitting HIV yet they also have the least access to prevention, care and treatment services because their certain behaviors are often stigmatized by the adjacent community; ANSP+has taken a prominent initiative of working with Key population since 2009 with the main purpose of preventing HIV/AIDS and raising awareness of the general population on existence of these sexual minority groups and their vulnerability towards HIV epidemic in Rwanda. ANSP+was among the first NGOs to work with Key population in HIV prevention framework in Rwanda considering the fearful HIV prevalence and incidence rates of key population and their active transmitting channelstowards the rest of citizen. Our work continues in building capacity of 56 identified groups/associations of key population individuals, advocating for friendly Key population service delivery, raising awareness of the key population nearby community and extending the mission all over the country in spite of poor resources due to the lack of potential funding partners in key population area.
