We are a UK registered charity operating in the Somali Horn in East Africa working with multiple partners across international borders to deliver a fully integrated primary healthcare system in the region.
The right to health has been enshrined in international and regional human rights treaties as well as national constitutions all over the world yet Somalis in the Horn of Africa are experiencing some of the poorest healthcare provision anywhere. Improving healthcare and well-being outcomes for children, individuals, families and communities, as well as creating accessible services is not only essential but urgent.
We believe that the best way to address this crisis is to introduce a health service centred in the heart of local communities with increased provision in towns and cities. The vision is a bold one and one that demands comprehensive health sector reform and substantial funding. It is not only a vision which is achievable with the support of key partners, donors and subscribers but is a vision that will quite simply transform the lives of millions of Somali people throughout the Somali Horn.
SHiFAT is a non-political and non-partisan organisation and we are working with governments throughout the Somali Horn to improve the healthcare of all Somali people wherever they live.
