Voice of the Hopeful Enlightenment and Development Initiative

Voice of the Hopeful Enlightenment and Development Initiative (VOHEDI) is a Community based non- Governmental organization for People Living with HIV/AIDS. The organization was established since 2003, registered with Kano state government and with CAC in 2013 with the registration No CAC/IT/NO 64959. Voice of The Hopeful Enlightenment and Development Initiative (VOHEDI) had conducted a lot of meaningful activities that has led to reduction of HIV/AIDS in our society with also reduction in stigma and discrimination among communities in Kano state. VOHEDI do conduct multiple programs geared towards alleviating the suffering of its members and other vulnerable people in the society. The organization has a membership of over 7, 000 people which includes Males, Females and Children living with AIDS and HIV virus. In the past we used to get financial and Material support from some donor and local NGOs, philanthropists and government agencies to carry out the following activities  Care and support to widows who lost their husbands and living with HIV virus  Care and support to Orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) program which enable us to take care of them, their caregivers and provide them with other services.  Intensive awareness programs about the dangers of HIV/AIDS transmission and prevention on a weekly radio program on Freedom Radio Kano called “FATAN NA GARI”  Nutritional support to OVCs and all people living with HIV/AIDS  Health and Medical supports  Psychosocial supports services  Education support services to Orphans and vulnerable children (OVC)  Economic Empowerment program for people living with HIV/AIDS  Referrals and linkages to service providers The above activities have helped many of our members to live healthy and happy life and live long life till today. Also due to the organization popular weekly Radio program as mentioned above, it gained recognition and popularity from the community and other NGOS which led to supplied of Food supplements which were freely distributed to our members and OVCs.
